2835 LED, which is also named as LED 2835, SMD 2835, 2835 LED SMD, 2835 SMD LED, SMD2835 LED, 2835 LED chip, etc.
2835 LED is a type of LED package that is commonly used in LED strips and other lighting applications. The number “2835” refers to the physical size of the LED package, which is 2.8mm x 3.5mm. Normally the thickness is 0.7mm – 0.9mm, but the thickness of Moonlight Tech 2835 SMD LED is 0.7mm.
2835 LEDs are known for their high brightness and energy efficiency, and they are often used in applications where a lot of light is needed in a small space. They are commonly used in commercial and residential lighting, as well as in automotive lighting and backlighting for displays.
One of the advantages of 2835 LEDs is that they can be easily arranged in a linear pattern to create LED strips. These strips can be cut to custom lengths and are often used for accent lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and other decorative lighting applications.
What is the difference between LED 2835 and 5050 LED?
LED 2835 and SMD 5050 LED are both types of surface mount LED packages that are commonly used in various lighting applications. The main differences between these two types of LEDs are their size, brightness, and power consumption.
Size: The 5050 LED package is larger than the SMD 2835 LED package, measuring 5.0mm x 5.0mm compared to the 2835’s 2.8mm x size.
Brightness: The 5050 LED is generally brighter than the 2835 LED due to its larger size and higher power consumption.
Power consumption: The 2835 LED typically consumes less power than the 5050 LED, which means that it is more energy efficient.
In terms of their applications, SMD 2835 LEDs are commonly used in backlighting for LCD displays, while 5050 LEDs are often used in decorative lighting, such as for holiday lights or outdoor lighting.
It’s worth noting that there are many other types of LED packages available on the market, each with their own unique characteristics and applications.
The materials Used in SMD 2835 Production Process
The materials used in the process of SMD2835 LED is very important for the Lifetime, stability, color consistency, efficiency, etc.
1. LED lead frame
LED lead frame is the bottom base of the LED before packaging, on the basis of the LED lead frame, the chip is fixed in, the positive and negative electrodes are soldered, and then packaged with packaging glue.
The LED lead frame is generally made of copper (also iron, aluminum and ceramics, etc.), because copper has good conductivity, there will be leads inside it to connect the electrodes inside the LED. After the LED is packaged and formed, the LED can be removed from the lead frame, and the copper feet at both ends of the LED become the positive and negative poles of the LED, which are used for welding to LED lamps or other LED finished products.
At present, there are two types of LED packaging lead frame on the market: PPA, PCT. The materials of the two lead frames are different, and the structure and production process are also different. Between them, PPA is an injection molding process; PCT material has poor fluidity, and injection molding is more troublesome, requiring traditional stamping process. Both PPA and PCT are thermoplastic materials. PPA is not as good as PCT in terms of temperature resistance, yellowing and air tightness, but it has an advantage in price. It is generally used for 2835 LED packages below 0.5W. What is more, PCT lead frame has better thermal management than PPA lead frame, so it is generally used for 2835 LED packages over 0.5W.
Moonlight Tech mainly use two type of lead frame for SME 2835 LED. Silver plated brass PPA lead frame (20μ) for LED 2835 under 0.5W, and copper plated silver (40μ) PCT lead frame for SMD 2835 over 0.5W. It will make sure the 2835 SMD LEDs have better conduction of heat.
2. Wire
The conductivity and ductility of the wire used in the proccess of wire-bonding for SMD 2835 LED packaging are also very important to the quality of the 2835 LED.
Moonlight Tech uses 88% silver and 12% gold alloy wires for soldering to ensure that our packaged LED 2835 has good conductivity and ductility.
3. Die Attach Adhesives
Die attach adhesives are used to attach 2835 LED chips to packaging substrates. In addition to forming the attachment, they can help mitigate stress and control warpage during system operation. Some die attach adhesives are formulated to be both thermally conductive and electrically insulating.
Shin-Etsu Chemical’s die-bonding adhesive used by Moonlight Tech has excellent adhesion and reliability, can remain stable under high temperature, high humidity and extreme conditions, conducts heat and insulates.
What are the voltages of SMD 2835 LEDs?
The voltage of an 2835 LED SMD varies depending on the specific model and manufacturer, but typically it has a forward voltage of around 2.8 to 3.4 volts. However, it’s important to note that the voltage can also vary based on the current and temperature of the LED, like 6V 2835 LED, 9V 2835 LED, 12V 2835 LED, 18V 2835 LED.
